I met Kate and Dave ( or Dr. Russ as I usually refer to him ) in a much different way than most of my clients. Dr. Russ is a Wilmington NC chiropractor, and owner of Russ Chiropractic. I went to see him after receiving a referral from a friend. During my first visit he mentioned that he had a fiance, and instantly I said “oh, well you’ll have to check out my website.” He passed along my info to his lovely fiance, Kate, and left things up to her. After a couple months went by I thought they must have found someone else who was better suited for them, and then one day, Dave said, “So we would like to have you photograph our wedding.” I had only briefly met Kate but it only took a couple minutes to realize she is my “Perfect Client!!” She has style, grace and a fiance that loves her dearly. I was beyond thrilled to be working with this couple. I have to admit I was a tad nervous before our session because Dave is not a huge fan of having his photo taken, and I was warned ahead of time that getting a real smile out of him for a photo is pretty tricky. Well, lucky for me, this is something I pride myself in. My style of photography has enough staging to help my clients feel comfortable and an equal amount of freedom so I can candidly capture their personalities. I just knew that Kate would be able to bring out the “natural-happy-smile” and all I would have to do is capture it 🙂
Kate did a great job of styling for this session. I remember Dave saying to me one day in the office “yeah, I got a new shirt in the mail today. I guess I’ll be wearing that for the session.” He was smart enough to leave things up to Kate, and I’m really happy he did 😉 We had so much fun shooting at Airlie! I am so madly in love with this venue. Stay tuned for Part II that will feature the 2nd half of their session at the beach!!!
