Winter in Wilmington.

Hi friends!  Wow! I can’t believe how much my world of blogging has changed since facebook. I used to have a thought, and it turned into a full blog post that I would look back on and continuously be inspired by.  Now, I have a thought, and I spit it out on a facebook and most of the time… forget all about it.  I have been slowly decreasing my time on facebook, for many reasons, mostly because I think it is overstimulating, and I notice I am happier without so much unnessary stimulation.  I’m hoping that this will lead to more blogging, and more inspiration for myself, and for you, my readers!  I have some fun posts in the works for the next couple weeks.  In the meantime, you can skip over to my boudoir blog and check out my most recent sexy session that took place at a sweet little inn in downtown Wilmington NC.  I loooooove boudoir, and if you find me missing from this blog, you will most likely find me hiding out over there:)

Because it has been way to long, and he is getting way to big, I have to post a photo of Jack here:) He turned 18months 4 days ago.  He is the light of my life, and another reason why my blog has been neglected;)

This photo was taken while I was out scouting for an upcoming engagement shoot.  Stay tuned for some really cute engagement picture from this upcoming session! We’ll have balloons, a chalk board and a super cute + in love + fun couple.  I can’t wait!

Courtyards & Cobblestones. Part II. Promo Shoot

A few weeks before Courtyards and Cobblestones, I worked with Blueberry Fusion, Courtney Arnold of Stellar Events and Camille’s Closet to put together a photo shoot at The Balcony on Dock to display at the show.  We planned on doing most of the shoot outside, but when the weather showed 100% chance of rain all day, we moved the shoot inside.  I have to say, if you are going to get stuck inside, during a photo shoot, there really is no better place than The Balcony in downtown wilmington.  I am in love with the historic exposed brick and hardwood floors.  I have been dying to share these photos but wanted to wait until after the show:)

Here are a few of my favorites.  HUGE HUGE thank you to our models Peter Clarkson and Laine O’Conner.  We couldn’t have done it without you!!!

Courtyards and Cobblestones. Part I. Downtown Weddings in Wilmington NC. Wedding Photographers.

I am so excited to finally share some images from Courtyards and Cobblestones!  This event turned out simply perfect! Part I shows the collaboration of all the wedding professionals at The Balcony.  In Part II, I’ll be sharing the images from the promo shoot we did to prepare for the show!

Great work Susie, thank you! We always enjoy working with you and Trinity! We are truly grateful to have the opportunity to work with such talented and genuine professionals :)
Thank you for showing everyone what a beautiful day it was.

Baby Chase. 7 months. Charlotte NC portrait and wedding photographer.

This is the third time in one year that I have had the priviledge of working with the Bolick family, and it just gets more fun every time!  Baby Chase was just one day shy of 7 months when we did this session.  The best part of my job is documenting families as they grow:) Be sure to take a look the session 1 + 2 with them, as well.

I also have to thank my niece, Emily, for her help on this session.  She is only 12, but she has a very creative eye!  I have a feeling she be working with me a lot in a few years:) Thanks for all your help, Em!!!

Such a cutie! Great work

St. Thomas Preservation Hall downtown wedding. Alfreda + Al’s Black and White Affair.

Alfreda knew exactly what she wanted for her evening wedding to the love of her life. She wanted a romantic black and white affair filled with candles, beautiful white flowers everywhere, and a lot of love.  There was no shortage of love at this wedding, that is for sure!  As for the beautiful decor, Alfreda left all of the details up to the very talented designer/coordinator Brittany of Orchid Island Events.  Alfreda + Al just relocated to Wilmington, and had been planning a destination wedding, and Alfreda said it herself, she couldn’t have done it without Brittany!  My associate, Trinity, did an amazing job capturing the details of this wedding.  Be prepared there are a lot of details shots in this post.  Everything was so gorgeous, and we hope this helps all of you brides that are still looking for inspiration for your upcoming wedding.  The rest of this post is filled with emotion.  This was not one of those weddings where we took a lot of time for “formal” photos.  This couple preferred us take a more candid approach, which I am always happy to do.

Starting with their first glance.   It was already dark outside, since the ceremony didn’t start until 6pm, so they first saw eachother in the little parlor at the church.

I love the way Trinity photographed the bride’s shoes. Simple, yet beautiful!

The First Glance:)

Some pre-wedding jitters.  It felt a little weird photographing the bride while she was have a “moment.” But I knew she would appreciate this later:)

The darling flower girl, peaking around the corner before she walked down the isle. The stunning details…

Vendors:
Orchid Island did the event coordination and floral design.
Alison Meehan from Alison’s Cakery
Catering was MOI
Reception: St. Thomas Preservation Hall
Ceremony: 1st Baptist
DJ: Absolute Best DJ Service
Rentals: Rent-a-Tent
Violinist: Maura Kropke
