Commercial Shoot :: Jason Mraz

About a year ago I was approached by Marea surf magazine to photograph Jason Mraz for their first issue and website! It was funny because at the time, I was like “who?” Now, I am jamming to his music as I write this email. This was the first “celebrity” I photographed, so I guess it was good that I wasn’t too familiar with his work, otherwise I would have been more nervous:)I just now got permission to blog these photos, which is why I am finally showing these:)I still love these images, and I suppose I always will because of what it represents. I’ll never forget my first wedding, portrait session, or celebrity:)So, cheers to Jason Mraz for helping me break through….and let’s hope this is only the beginning;)

A wonderful surprise to this day, was meeting Bushwalla. He is another fabulous musician, and good friend and roommate to Jason Mraz. He plays locally in San Diego quite often, so be sure to check out a show. We went for an old time rocker look with him, and I love the way these images turned out:)

    I just have to say that as an avid Jason Mraz fan stumbling across these – wow. I have seen many photoshoots of the man but I think this one may take the cake. If this is only the first celebrity you’ve captured, I can’t wait to see what else is in store. Really… what an excellent job. :)ReplyCancel

    We want to live in Enc Ranch too! We actually looked at the houses last week and found “our street”! If you use Firefox for your internet, there is an option for an automatic spell checker! It will underline all the misspelled words in red for you!! Boudior sessions… funny you say that! I was thinking of this (tasteful of course) for S for Valentines day!!!! What if you go to houses for this?! And babies, you need to call me!!!ReplyCancel

    If you do end up doing Boudior sessions, I’ll be first in line, or maybe second behind Christina :)ReplyCancel

Some Inspiration for your weekend…

I was given a beautiful plaque, with a powerful message, from a friend when I was 17 and making the biggest move of my life. I was leaving Ohio where I grew up, and was heading down to Daytona Beach, FL, to start my new life. Unfortunately, I didn’t really “get” the message from this plaque, until years later. It’s always so interesting how things are presented to us in the same light our entire lives, and then one day we see it differently. The only thing that has changed is our perception. I try and keep this in mind when I see that someone has a completely different way of looking at things as I do. So often I’ll think “What the hell are they thinking?!” Then I’ll remember a time I believed in things so differently than I do today.

…and to think I am only 28. Imagine the shift in perception when I am 38, 48, or 58?! Wow.

And in case you were wondering, here is the message I was given 11 years ago:)It still hangs in my home after all these years, however the message is continually shifting…

When I dare to be powerful – to use my strength in the service of my vision, Then it becomes less and less important, whether I am afraid.

Baby Jack. Teasers.

I photographed Cristina and John’s wedding way back in 2006 ( pre blogging days:)I was so excited when I received a call from Cristina a few weeks ago asking if I would like to do some photos of their son Jack! It is always exciting when my clients come back and ask me to take photos of their kids. Once you see them together, it’s hard to imagine the days before the came into the world.

Jack was super cute and has so much personality…not to mention the most amazing blue angel eyes.

Enjoy some super cuteness from Baby Jack…

Jack’s greeting to my camera…

I love this dresser! I used to have one this color, until I married Jeremy and he made me get rid of it.

Heading to the Park.

“UGH! Are you almost done taking my picture?!”

Final and favorite shot of the day. Jack was really excited for snack time :)…aren’t we all…
