Regina and Derek. The Wedding. Museum of Art, San Diego

Back to Blog

It was absolute fate that I met this couple! The universe wouldn’t have it any other way! I was referred to Regina and Derek by the fabulous Theorie, because they were already booked. It just so happened that Derek’s friend Patty, had just signed me for her wedding. Yes, this is the same Patty that is now my intern and good friend! We met over wine and hit it off right away! Now I know this story should be about them, I just had to share our story first 🙂

During their vows I learned that on their first date, Derek asked Regina where she thought she would be in 5 yrs. Regina laughs saying that she was surprised to hear that on the first date, and that she probably came up with some “BS” answer. If he were to ask her that today, she said, she will be enjoying her life with her best friend and partner!

I think I heard the best toast at this wedding from the Best Man. He said Derek is the kind of Man he hopes his daughters will marry…TEAR! And that is exactly true. Derek is so kind, gentle, fun, creative and just has this calming and trusting energy about him. Regina, with her bubbly personality, laid back attitude and laugh that will light up a room….well, they are the perfect match.

Another reason I am so blessed to do this for a living. I have an amazing track record with clients. ALL of my clients are so in love, relaxed, and they treat me like a friend! That’s the best part I guess. I not only get to be there to document this amazing love story, but I get some really cool friends out of the deal, as well 🙂

Enjoy some photos! This wedding ROCKED!!!

p.s. Regina’s mom made her dress!!!! AMAZING!

They chose to get ready at Photos taken at Hotel Salamar! I love this place, so we decided to do a majority of our “formals” there.

just look at those shoes. nuff said!

The details at this wedding were stunning, and we owe it all to Paula at The Flower Shop!

They got married in the Sculpture Garden in Balboa Park. Amy got this shot and I love it! It is the ultimate environmental portrait!

I heart this photo!!! Not totally sure why. I was just going for the shot of the guy with the camer and then this woman walked by. She totally made the photo!!! I love accidents like this…

They danced their way down the isle to Jack Johnson 🙂

A few of my favorite portraits 🙂

LOVE this shot of the cake!!!!!

The first dance! So cute!

and finally the groom tearing up the dance floor!

Regina + Derek: It has been so great getting to know you both! I am honored I was chosen as your wedding photographer! I look forward to many more laughs and photoshoots in the future!
